New Peugeot crossover for South Africa – Pricing and specifications

The new Peugeot 2008 is launching in South Africa soon in two distinct specifications, the Allure and GT.

The facelifted crossover boasts wholly refreshed exterior styling, a revised cabin, as well as new standard fitments.

As per our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists, the stylish 2008 now has a starting price of R519,900, reflecting a premium of R35,000 over the outgoing iteration.

What you get

All derivatives of the new Peugeot now boast three vertical “light claws” integrated into gloss black inserts on the bumper.

The updated lighting fixtures are complemented by a new grille which itself wears the redesigned Peugeot badge that is wider than before.

The taillights were reimagined, too, showing off three LED sections housing horizontal slats, as were the alloy wheels.

Inside, the updates extend to a revised multifunction steering wheel, more “upmarket” seat fabrics, and a new 10-inch infotainment display on the dash.

Standard equipment on the new 2008 Allure comprises push-button start, Comfort seats in tri-material cloth with quartz stitching, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger, and six speakers.

It also offers rain-sensing wipers, automatic Eco-LED headlights with daytime running lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The model is then completed with cruise control, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, lane-keep assist, driver attention alert, tyre-pressure monitoring, and six airbags.

Stepping up to the GT brings Dynamic seats wrapped in “Belomka” fabric with adamite stitching, front parking sensors, front and rear-view cameras, blind-spot detection, Full-LED headlights, a diamond-black contrast roof, and distinctive 17-inch alloys.

The 2008 retains the 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol powerplant found in its predecessor which is matched with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The setup is good for 96kW and 230Nm, and returns an average fuel usage of 6.5l/100km.

The front-wheel-drive crossover is also capable of sprinting from a standstill to 100km/h in 9.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 198km/h.

Price

The South African pricing and model line-up for the new Peugeot 2008 are as follows:

Each purchase is completed with a 5-year/100,000km warranty and 3-year/60,000km service plan.
