Jaguar Land Rover has pulled the covers off the new Range Rover SV Black, the flagship of its most luxurious SUV series.
The SV Black is an exclusive model based on the range-topping P615 SV, adding a host of new cosmetics and features that take its appeal to the next level.
This is the third Black model unveiled by the carmaker over the last month, as the company recently gave the same treatment to the Range Rover Sport and the Land Rover Defender.
The new Range Rover SV Black will be available to order starting in late 2025 in both standard and extended wheelbase configurations, with prices ranging from R5,269,200 to R5,718,700.
This makes it the most expensive Range Rover in the country, costing R231,000 more than the P615 SV L.
All Range Rover models are sold with a 5-year/100,000km warranty and maintenance plan.
Features

The big new selling point of the SV Black is an innovative new “Body-and-Soul Seat” (BASS) system with Sensory Floor technology.
The floor of the SUV is fitted with four transducers, which are devices that transform energy from one form into another.
The transducers are linked to the car’s audio system, resulting in haptic feedback played through the floor mats to provide an immersive sound experience.
These transducers can also be found in the seats in both the front and the rear, creating an expansive and immersive listening experience that allowing occupants to physically feel the music, according to the manufacturer.
In addition to regular music, the Range Rover features a “wellness programme” that uses the haptic feedback of the seats and floor to calm and soothe the occupants.
The wellness programme includes six settings, including ‘Calm’ and ‘Invigorating,’ and is meant to stimulate users to reduce stress and anxiety while improving concentration and cognitive response.
All of this is in addition to the Meridian Signature Surround Sound system, which is included as standard on the high-end SUV.
As for the new cosmetics, the SV Black unsurprisingly follows a dark colour scheme with a Narvik Gloss Black paint job.
The grille is comprised of a polished Gloss Black mesh, and the lettering on the bonnet has a similar finish.
The theme even extends to the oval logo, which has a subtle Gloss Black touch.
Likewise, the Ranger Rover has a set of 23-inch alloy wheels with prominent brake calipers, all of which follow the colour scheme of the other components.
It’s the same story with the interior, where the seats are decked out in Aniline Ebony leather with rectangular perforations and a unique stitching pattern.
The gearstick has a satin black ceramic finish, and Moonlight Chrome detailing can be found on several components, adding a sparkle to the otherwise dark cabin.
Engine
The SV Black is equipped with the brand’s 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which generates a tremendous 452kW and 750Nm.
It also has an all-wheel-drive system, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The result is that the Range Rover can sprint to 100km/h in an impressive 4.5 seconds despite its stature as a 3.4-tonne luxury SUV.
It can also reach a top speed of 261km/h.
Fuel consumption works out to 11.7l/100km, giving it a range of 769km on its 90-litre thank.
