Citroën launches new family SUV in South Africa – Pricing and features

Citroën has officially launched the latest version of its family-sized Aircross SUV for the South African market, with three new models in its line-up.

The updated 2026 model line-up was introduced alongside the affordable C3.

The French carmaker said the latest Aircross has been fitted with meaningful upgrades in technology, comfort, and convenience as the brand aims to strengthen its position in the competitive local B-segment.

Prices for the all-new Aircross start from R294,500, and includes Citroën’s 5-year/100,000km factory warranty as standard.

Features

Several new features being introduced in the updated Aircross are normally only found in higher vehicle segments, and Citroën hopes that these will set it apart in its segment.

The entire range has been fitted with features that make day-to-day life with the SUV easier, including keyless entry, Citroën’s ProxiSense – a convenient hands-free entry and ignition system – and push-start.

Further driver comforts include cruise control with a speed limiter, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror to reduce glare at night, and advanced features meant to ensure a smooth driving feel.

As a family-focused SUV, the Aircross has a spacious interior, and is available as either a five- or seven-seater, with individually removable third-row seats in the seven-seater for flexibility passengers or hauling cargo.

The interior also boasts an updated cabin design and modern interior features.

An updated instrument panel and floating digital instrument cluster have been fitted into the SUV’s refreshed dashboard design, which is meant to create a more contemporary layout than before.

Rear air vents ensure that back-seat passengers benefit from climate control, while rear charging ports are also fitted to the latest generation Aircross.

In terms of safety, the SUV was built on a platforms that have achieved 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating in India, ensuring it continues Citroën’s tradition of providing occupant protection and structural safety.

Standard safety features across the line-up include six airbags, Isofix child-seat anchors, and an advanced electronic stability system.

Engine

One thing that has not changed with the latest generation of Aircross SUVs is its drivetrains, which remain identical to its previous versions.

Buyers will have a choice of naturally aspirated or turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engines, with a six-speed automatic transmission fitted to turbocharged models.

The naturally aspirated Aircross Plus is fitted with a five-speed manual transmission that sends 60kW and 115Nm to its front wheels, managing a fuel economy of 6.2l/100km.

The automatic transmission Max five- and seven-seater models are capable for producing 81kW and 205Nm thanks to their turbocharged motors.

These variants boast an average fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km.
