Vehicles of all shapes and sizes were scooped up by eager motorists in South Africa in June 2026, as evidenced by the latest sales figures.

The Toyota Hilux still dominates the market with 3,464 sales, while the VW Polo Vivo and Ford Ranger also took podium positions with 2,395 and 2,150 sales, respectively.

This is according to a report by The Citizen, using data from the Automotive Business Council.

A Chinese entry, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, came fourth with 2,070 sales, and the Isuzu D-Max rounded out the top five with 1,724 units, highlighting how popular bakkies truly are in South Africa.

The Hyundai Grand i10 sold 1,627 units, and the Haval Jolion and Suzuki Swift sold 1,424 and 1,388 units.

Ninth place went to the Toyota Corolla Cross with 1,356 units, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser closed out the top 10 with 1,174 sales. Curiously, the Starlet Cross dropped out of the top 20 entirely.

A pair of Suzuki models, the Ertiga and Fronx, came 11th and 12th with 1,150 and 1,092 customers to their names, after which came the Toyota Starlet and Vitz with 968 and 921 sales.

The Jetour T2 claimed 15th place thanks to 918 buyers, and the Omoda C5 wasn’t far behind with 901 units putting it in 16th place.

The last four models to crack the top 20 this time around were the VW Polo (864 units), Mahindra XUV 3XO (816 units), Toyota Fortuner (726 units), and the Mahindra Pik Up (701 units).
