Best-selling SUVs in South Africa

The Haval H6 was South Africa’s favourite SUV in October, claiming to top spot by moving nearly 1,000 units during the 31 days.

The H6, which recently had a new hybrid model added to its range, was also the brand’s best-selling model overall, even beating out its more affordable crossover sibling, the Jolion.

Second place, meanwhile, went to Toyota’s tried-and-trusted Fortuner with 847 models shipped to customers last month.

The popular manufacturer was a prominent feature in the top 10, with additional entries coming from the Prado, which at a starting price of just over R1 million sold a considerable 200 units, as well as the RAV4, which is currently the brand’s only SUV with a hybrid powertrain option, which saw 100 models making their way off the showroom floor.

Third place, however, was taken by VW with its Tiguan selling 203 units in October, and the R1.3 million Touareg also inched its way into the top 15 with 33 sales.

Another hit was the new Kia Sportage, which launched in September and is already moving as many as 190 units per month. Kia’s more upmarket offering, the Sorento, also sits on the list of the top 15 best-selling SUVs in October.

Other frequently-purchased models included the Mazda CX-5, the Isuzu Mu-X, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Land Rover Defender.
