Hot on the heels of the original Taycan comes the release of the new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo.
Porsche has added this new off-road-capable all-electric vehicle to their product portfolio as part of their ongoing pursuit for sustainable mobility.
Their goal is to have half of the brand’s vehicles delivered to the market by 2025 have at least some form of electric powertrain.
Along with the introduction of the new Taycan Cross Turismo comes an assortment of exclusive accessories, as well as two new e-bikes – the eBike Sport and eBike Cross.
More space
The Taycan Cross Turismo builds on the already spacious cabin of the Taycan by adding 36mm more headroom for rear passengers and 1,200 litres of luggage capacity.
In terms of looks, the Cross Turismo closely follows the standard variant – as well as the E Cross Turismo concept that was presented in 2018.
The roofline slopes and extends to the rear spoiler, which is called a “flyline” by Porsche designers.
It’s then fitted with rugged design elements including wheel arch trims, exclusive front and rear lower aprons, and unique side sills.
If you select the optional off-road package you will have 30mm more ground clearance and special flaps at the front and rear corners of the vehicle, as well as on the side sills.
These add flare to the design and also serve the purpose of protecting the expensive paintwork form debris.
Performance
At launch we will have four derivatives of the Taycan Cross Turismo available.
The Cross Turismo uses Porsche’s 800-volt architecture to achieve impressive stats, and every model receives an overboost function to increase power by up to 100kW during a launch control sequence.
A standard “gravel mode” will then enable it to handle demanding off-road terrain, while standard features including adaptive air suspension and an all-wheel-drive system let you take it off the tarmac with confidence.
A 93.4kWh Performance Battery Plus is fitted to every Cross Turismo as standard and will achieve the following figures, depending on the specification.
Model | Power | Overboost | 0-100km/h | Range |
---|---|---|---|---|
Taycan 4 Cross Turismo | 280kW | 350kW | 5.1 seconds | 389-456km |
Taycan 4S Cross Turismo | 360kW | 420kW | 4.1 seconds | 388-452km |
Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo | 460kW | 500kW | 3.3 seconds | 395-452km |
Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo | 460kW | 560kW | 2.9 seconds | 388-419km |
Accessories
Along with the release of the new Taycan Cross Turismo, Porsche has unveiled a selection of specially-developed accessories.
A rear carrier has space for up to three bicycles of any kind, and the rear door can still open with it installed.
Built to fit this new carrier are two new e-bikes – the eBike Sport and eBike Cross – which were developed to be powerful and sustainable, according to Porsche.
The Taycan Cross Turismo will be launched during the European summer, and no pricing or dates have been made public yet.
