2024 Festival of Motoring – Dates and ticket prices

The Festival of Motoring (FoM) is making a return to South Africa for 2024, promising an exciting weekend of automotive action.

The event will once again be held at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng, and is set to take place between Friday, 30 August, and Sunday, 1 September.

General tickets are now available online on Howler, and the cheapest day passes cost R275 for one adult.

Everything you need to know

The Festival of Motoring is one of South Africa’s biggest car events of the year and is a chance for thousands of enthusiasts to find out about upcoming releases and even get behind the wheel of their favourite cars around the track.

The list of automakers confirmed for the event thus far includes Abarth, Alfa Romeo, BAIC, Chery, Citroen, Fiat, Haval, Isuzu, Jaecoo, Jeep, Omoda, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Shelby, Subaru, Suzuki, and Volkswagen, with many more expected to be in attendance come the day.

Many of these brands will allow individuals to hop in the passenger seat of one of their cars for a hot lap around the main circuit with an accredited driver from one of several organizers and events, including BMW’s Motorsport Club, the Simola Hill Climb, RaceDayEvents, the Samlin Lamborghini Experience, and Shelby Mustang SA.

Booking a hot lap session will become available from 2 May 2024.

When the hot laps aren’t in session, the track will be filled by Formula One type cars or superbikes from the Sunbet ZX10 Master’s Cup, giving visitors a front-row view of what professional racing looks like.

Those interested in a different kind of experience can head over to the smaller self-handling track where you can take the wheel yourself on a controlled lap with the latest models from popular brands, or check out the designated 4×4 area where you can see bakkies and SUVs put their off-road credentials to the test in specially-designed courses.

The FoM also has a number of other activities to keep the whole family entertained, including a gallery of cars both old and new, stores, food kiosks, a gaming zone, and live entertainment.
