In September, there were a ton of new vehicle launches, unveilings, and teasers – with 11 new vehicles on sale in South Africa as a result.
SUVs were, once again, the hottest topic for the month, followed by sedans, hatchbacks, then bakkies.
Notable new vehicles for the month include two special-edition Mahindras that were made to tackle the bush, a hybrid Mercedes-Benz sports car that can reach 100km/h in 2.9 seconds, the most powerful Golf R Estate ever made, and the South African launch of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
Toyota also released a hybrid version of two of its most popular models, the Corolla and RAV4, which takes the total hybrid vehicles unveiled in September to three.
Three all-electric cars were also shown to the world, with the new Mini Cooper SE available locally, the Rolls-Royce Spectre expected to launch in 2023, and the Porsche Mission R Concept not yet confirmed for production.
One of the last current-generation Ford Rangers also went on sale in September, the Ranger Stormtrak, as the company is gearing up to unveil the next-generation Ranger during 2022.
