Competitors to the new flagship Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Mitsubishi last week introduced a new headlining derivative for its mid-size SUV in the form of the Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed.

The crossover brings a respectable specification sheet with its window sticker of R560,000, this being rather necessary as it competes in one of the most populated car segments in the country at a popular price point.

What you get with the purchase of the Mitsubishi includes amenities such as an 8-inch media screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather trims, electric and heated front seats, automatic climate control, dusk-sensing lights, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and start, and a heads-up display.

It boasts a selection of driver assistance programmes, too, such as blind-spot monitoring, hill-start assist, and ABS with brake assist.

Generating power is a 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol engine between the front wheels paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The configuration is capable of churning out 110kW and 250Nm at an average fuel consumption of 7.7l/100km and sends the Eclipse Cross from 0-100km/h in 8.9 seconds.
