The new Nissan X-Trail is taking on 11 of South Africa’s favourite SUVs

The new Nissan X-Trail has landed in South Africa at a competitive starting price of R649,900.

The entry-level Visia model is rather well-equipped for the price range, offering an attractive value proposition for anyone in the market for a full-size SUV.

In Visia guise, the new X-Trail brings LED headlamps with high-beam assist, cloth upholstery, a urethane multifunction steering wheel, keyless entry and start, manual airconditioning, paddle shifters, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 17-inch wheels.

In addition, it offers a raft of driver assistance systems such as intelligent cruise control, hill-start and descent assist, a reverse camera with rear parking sensors, front collision warnings with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and driver attention alert.

Under the hood, the Nissan makes use of a 2.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol motor putting out 135kW and 244Nm.

Power is channelled to the front wheels via a CVT box, resulting in a claimed 0-100km/h time of 10.4 seconds, a top speed of 195km/h, and a combined fuel consumption of 7.4l/100km.

The SUV is also capable of towing a maximum of two tonnes for those weekends away with the family, as well as swallow up to 585 litres of cargo in the boot.
