New limited-edition Nissan Magnite launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Nissan has reintroduced the Kuro nameplate to the popular Magnite crossover series in South Africa.
The Magnite received a significant upgrade in late 2024, and the company recently slashed the price of the Turbo variants by as much as R40,800.
The return of the Kuro badge, therefore, marks the latest step in the Japanese automaker’s ongoing campaign to broaden the appeal of one of its most successful products.
Nissan stated that the Kuro will be a limited-edition model with a “select number of units” for South Africa, though it has not disclosed the exact figure.
Based on the Acenta trim level, the Kuro starts at R352,900, making it the second most expensive unit in the range.
Engine
The special-edition Magnite is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which develops 74kW and 152Nm.
It is exclusively available with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which connects to the front wheels.
As a result, the crossover achieves an average fuel consumption of 6.0l/100km.
Features
“Kuro” means black in Japanese, which neatly encapsulates the various cosmetic changes the special-edition model has received.
The chrome and silver accents found on the standard models have been replaced by a new black finish, which applies to the roof rails, skid plates, grille inserts, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
It also has an exclusive black Kuro badge to help it stand out from its peers.
The interior continues the dark theme with a gloss black dashboard, a jet black roof liner, gloss black steering wheel inserts, black fabric trim, and synthetic leather seats.
Equipment on the new Magnite comprises LED headlights and daytime running lights, electric windows, keyless entry and start, a leather multifunction steering wheel, automatic air conditioning with an air filter, a cooled glovebox, six speakers, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, a 7-inch TFT driver display and an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It also comes with six airbags, cruise control, hill assist, tyre pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera.
