New BMW XM Label – The most expensive BMW in South Africa
BMW has officially launched the new XM Label in South Africa.
Earlier this year, the German carmaker announced that it would simplify the XM range, reducing the two-car lineup to a single derivative.
The super SUV made its initial debut in 2023 with a single “XM” specification, which was later expanded in 2024 with the addition of a flagship “Label Red” model.
However, BMW has elected to do away with this selection, simplifying the range to a single “Label” specification that retains the best elements of the limited-edition Label Red.
Our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists alerted us to the fact that the new XM Label is now available on the company’s site configurator for a whopping R3,650,000, making it the most expensive BMW in South Africa.
This includes a 2-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, a 5-year/100,000km maintenance plan, and an 8-year/100,000km hybrid battery warranty.
Performance

The XM is BMW’s answer to the super SUV craze that has taken over the world of the rich and famous in recent years – a trend that was kickstarted by models like the Lamborghini Urus.
BMW’s first original M car in nearly 50 years, the XM is powered by an impressive 4.4-litre TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine with hybrid assistance.
This gives it a staggering total of 550kW and 1,000Nm, letting it race from 0 to 100km/h in a scorching 3.8 seconds.
Normally, BMW’s cars are electronically limited to a top speed of 250km/h, but the Label comes standard with the M Driver’s package, which raises the cap to 290km/h.
The XM also features the brand’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
It’s also worth noting that the SUV is a plug-in hybrid, featuring an electric motor that runs off a 25.7kWh battery.
This means it can travel for roughly 85km on nothing but electrons, and BMW claims the vehicle has an average fuel consumption of just 2.7l/100km.
The unspoken caveat is that that this figure assumes you will use the electric driving mode for most of your day to day trips.
If you primarily rely on the petrol engine, this stat increases to a rather thirsty 12.8l/100km.
The XM also comes with adaptive M suspension, a rear diff lock, electronically controlled dampers, active roll stabilisation, and rear-wheel steering for improved manoeuvrability.
Features

The XM is not only one of the most powerful BMWs in South Africa, but is also one of the most luxurious.
It is offered with a new Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic paint option, and the illuminated kidney grille has a new high-gloss black finish.
The Label also has an updated Welcome Light animation and a set of new black 23-inch M light alloy wheels.
Inside, the Merino leather upholstery can be customised with one of several new colour schemes, such as Night Blue, Black, Vintage Coffee Brown, or Individual Silverstone.
The dashboard is dominated by a curved dual display comprised of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen.
The super SUV also features heated and ventilated M Sports seats, keyless entry and start, an M leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, ambient cabin lighting, a wireless charging pad, and dual-zone climate control.
Additionally, it has a driving assistance suite with front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, front collision warning, lane-departure warning, evasion assist, a speed limiter, parking assist, and driver alert monitoring.
