More powerful Peugeot Landtrek bakkie launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

French carmaker Peugeot has expanded the Landtrek bakkie range with a more powerful double-cab offering with upgraded towing capacity.

Sales of the new models, comprising two new derivatives – Double Cab Allure and 4Action – commenced today, 8 October 2026, with prices starting from R666,900.

According to Stellantis South Africa, the updated Landtrek builds on the model’s proven capability and practicality, delivering more performance and comfort for customers who use their bakkie for both work and everyday life.

“The Landtrek has established itself as a capable, dependable and versatile bakkie, and these latest enhancements take it to the next level,” said Moeketsi Mapogo, Brand Head: Pro One LCV at Stellantis South Africa.

“We know our customers rely on their bakkies every day, so we’ve focused on the updates that will make the biggest difference in how they use them.”

“The result is a Landtrek that stays true to its strengths while offering customers even greater value.”

According to the manufacturer, the new derivatives reflect Peugeot South Africa’s focus on strengthening its position in the highly competitive one-ton bakkie segment.

An upgraded powertrain

The two new Landtrek derivatives are powered by a newly developed 2.2-litre Multijet turbodiesel engine producing 147kW and 450Nm.

This new motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission featuring an electronic gear selector (e-shifter).

The result is a system that produces 37kW more power and 100Nm more torque than the 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine currently fitted to existing Landtrek models.

This increased power means the maximum towing capacity of the new models has been boosted from 3,000kg to 3,500kg.

Features

Both of the top-spec models boast an updated digital instrument cluster and 10-inch infotainment system, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

They also include 18-inch wheels, leather seats, a 360-degree camera and tyre pressure monitor, while Peugeot has also gone and added an electronic parking brake.

The 2.2-litre models also feature new driver-assistance technologies, including Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection, to inspire greater driving confidence.
