Grenadier specifications
The new Ineos Grenadier is powered by either a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbo-petrol or turbo-diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox that drives all four wheels.
It’s further reported to boast class-leading off-road capabilities, but it has yet to be put to the test by the public.
Headlining the SUV’s off-road credentials are a two-speed transfer case alongside a centre locking differential. The Trialmaster spec further gets a front and rear differential as standard.
The range boasts aggressive fenders, too, with the approach angle coming in at 36.2 degrees, the breakover angle at 28.2 degrees, and the departure angle at 36.1 degrees.
With a ground clearance of 264mm on the standard 17-inch steel wheels – 17-inch and 18-inch alloys are optional – the off-roader is also able to wade through waters of up to 800mm deep.
The boxy body then measures 4,856mm long, 2,036mm tall, and 1,930mm wide excluding the wing mirrors – with a kerb weight of 2,665-2,740kg, depending on the model.

Cabin layouts
Ineos has yet to reveal all the South African specifications of the Grenadier.
“The straightforward Grenadier model line-up is easy to configure with a wide range of options and accessories,” said the manufacturer.
“Depending on the market, the Grenadier is available as a two-seat and a five-seat Utility Wagon for those needing a stripped back off-road vehicle, and as a five-seat Station Wagon with pre-configured Trialmaster and Fieldmaster editions inspired by Belstaff.”
A few notable features that are already known includes a washable cabin with drainage plugs and an IP54K water and dust-resistance rating, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Pathfinder off-road navigation system, and pre-wired switches on an overhead control panel.
Production
Series production for the new Ineos Grenadier will start in July 2022.
The first South African customers are expected to receive their units by October, the company previously told TopAuto.
