Hyundai Staria Panelvan going on sale in July

Hyundai will introduce a three-seater Staria Panelvan towards the end of July to replace the H1 in the commercial vehicle segment.

The Staria is larger, supports more cargo, has more luxurious features, and it will sell for R599,900.

Dimensions

The Staria Panelvan has grown in size when compared to the previous H1, spanning 5,253mm long, 1,997mm wide, and 2,000mm tall – making it 103mm longer, 77mm wider, and 65mm higher than the model it replaces.

Ground clearance is down by 4mm, however, now coming in at 186mm. This translates into a 41mm-lower loading height making the Staria easier to access, whereas the larger shell also lends it more generous packing space.

As a result, it now accepts up to 4,935 litres of cargo, a boot-sized 509 litres more than the H1. It’s also expected to support a load of around one tonne, although Hyundai South Africa has yet to confirm this.

With the same 2.2-litre, turbo-diesel powertrain under the hood as the rest of the Staria range, generating 130kW and 430Nm, the Panelvan also supports up to a maximum towing capacity of 2,500kg.

Drive is then sent to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, returning a combined fuel consumption of 8.7l/100km.

Features

The Staria Panelvan is equipped with more luxurious features than its predecessor making long hours behind the wheel more enjoyable for the driver.

It boasts automatic headlights, electric folding mirrors, a multifunction steering wheel, a radio with support for Bluetooth, and cruise control.

Safety and assistance systems have been updated, too, and the Hyundai now offers front and rear parking sensors, hill-assist control, electronic stability control, and ABS with a multi-collision braking system that applies pressure to the brakes in the event of an accident in order to prevent another one.

Finally, the Staria Panelvan gets body-coloured bumpers instead of black plastic, twin-swing rear doors instead of a lift-up tailgate, and 17-inch wheels instead of 16 inches.
