Updated Suzuki S-Presso now available – The most affordable car in South Africa

The updated Suzuki S-Presso “micro-SUV” has gone on sale in South Africa with six variants priced from R162,900 to just under R200,000, making it the most affordable car currently on the market.
For its mid-life revision, the compact Suzuki gained new features, a more economical power unit, as well as fresh design elements.
As before, the S-Presso is available in GL, GL+, and S-Edition trims, each one now offered in both manual and automatic.
What you get
From the factory, the new S-Presso is shipped with front electric windows, central locking, manual airconditioning, rear parking sensors, ABS, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and radio preparation – which means the GL derivative comes with two speakers and an antenna, but that a radio unit must be installed for an additional cost.
New fitments for the facelifted Suzuki are then a multifunction steering wheel, electric wing mirrors, an engine auto start/stop system, and electronic stability control that regulates wheel slip around corners for better handling performance.
Upgrading to the GL+, the S-Presso brings a 7-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth; as well as 14-inch alloy wheels.
For the top-of-the-line S-Edition, fitments additionally include a 9-inch infotainment system, reverse camera, and a model-exclusive styling kit comprising more pronounced side sills and silver bezel inserts on the front and rear bumpers.
Under the bonnet, the new S-Presso is equipped with the same 1.0-litre, petrol motor as its sibling, the Celerio.
The entire range can now be had with a five-speed manual (MT) or automated manual transmission (AMT), which is the first time the entry-level GL is offered in a self-shifting guise.
The new drivetrain gives the small Suzuki an output of 49kW and 89Nm, 1kW and 1Nm lower than the outgoing generation.
However, it scores a better average fuel consumption than before, reporting 4.6l/100km in manual and 4.4l/100km in AMT.
