New Ford Everest Sport for South Africa – Pricing and details

Ford has introduced a new trim line in the Everest range – the Everest Sport.

The new Everest Sport is based on the popular XLT line, and brings exclusive interior and exterior updates to the range.

What’s new

Visually, the Everest Sport is differentiated from the range through a black mesh grille and unique Everest badge on the nose.

Furthermore, it gets black mirror caps and door handles, a black front and rear bumper, ebony roof rails, sport decals on the rear doors, and 20-inch black alloy wheels.

You will also have a choice of six exterior colours when ordering the SUV – Diffused Silver, Frozen White, Agate Black, Moondust Silver, Sea Grey and Copper Red.

The exterior appointments extends to the interior, as the Everest Sport gets model-specific embossed leather seats, soft-touch leather on the dashboard, and a driver’s seat with eight-way power adjustment.

Moreover, the standard fitment of LED headlamps, daytime running lights, cruise control, park distance control sensors, and a rear-view camera puts this trim specification high up in the Everest ranks.

The SYNC3 infotainment system carries over to the Everest Sport, too, and offers several connectivity and multimedia options along with voice inputs.

The system comes standard with navigation, along with Tracks for Africa mapping, and works through an 8-inch touchscreen display that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities.

Safety systems were the next point of focus.

A standard safety pack will see the addition of an electronic stability programme with traction control, trailer sway control, hill launch assist, roll-over mitigation, and seven airbags.

Additionally, Passive Entry and Passive Start (PEPS) provides a keyless entry and start system through the start/stop button.

Price and performance

The new Everest Sport will be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, with a 10-speed automatic transmission fitted to every model.

Only one engine will be available, which is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit that delivers 132kW of power and 420Nm of torque.

The capabilities of the Everest are then enhanced through a Terrain Management System, which allows the selection of several driving modes, and hill descent control – which helps the driver navigate steep slopes.

The pricing for the new Ford Everest Sport is as follows:

  • Ford Everest Sport 2.0 Single Turbo 10AT 4×2 – R662,800
  • Ford Everest Sport 2.0 Single Turbo 10AT 4×4 – R704,400

All Everest models come standard with Ford Protect, comprising a 4-year/120,000km comprehensive warranty, a 3-year/unlimited kilometre roadside assistance, and a 6-year/90,000km service plan.
