Major brand stops selling cars in South Africa

Jaguar appears to have ceased selling new cars in South Africa.

Jaguar is in the midst of a controversial brand overhaul that will see the iconic British marque go full electric from 2026 onwards.

Following the unveiling of the Type 00 Concept – the first car in the new era of Jaguar – the company announced that it would systematically stop selling its existing line-up of autos.

It said that, henceforth, it will no longer sell models like the F-Pace and F-Type as new.

Instead, it will rely on its used-car and service and maintenance divisions to keep it afloat until such time that the new Type 00 reaches the market.

The United Kingdom was one of the first countries in which Jaguar made this move, and it appears that South Africa may now have followed suit.

As recently as March, the Jaguar South Africa website still advertised the E-Pace, F-Pace, I-Pace, and F-Type as available for sale.

Now, however, all we can see is the Type 00 and a few shortcuts that take you to pages with details about the new Jaguar – just like in the UK.

At the bottom of the home screen is a link that redirects you to a page for the F-Pace SUV where you can still find details on pricing and features.

All four vehicles – the E-Pace, F-Pace, I-Pace, and F-Type – are still shown on the configurator tool, too.

This suggests that they could still be available for purchase, though we suspect it’s only the remaining stock in dealers across the country that is being depleted.

Further lending credence to the idea that Jaguar is no longer selling new cars in South Africa is the fact that it was quietly removed from new-vehicle databases in the country such as Duoporta.

TopAuto spoke to the local division of Jaguar about the new website and its removal from new-car databases to find out whether this means what we think it means.

The company in turn pointed us towards its new “Reimagine” strategy announced alongside the unveiling of Type 00.

“The Jaguar brand is undergoing a complete revolution, which will culminate in its renaissance as a pure-electric brand,” said the Jaguar spokesperson.

They added that “momentum will continue to build throughout 2025” as the Type 00 morphs into a fully fledged four-door GT production car, which is scheduled to launch in 2026.

Whether stopping the sales of new vehicles is part of this “momentum” remains unclear.

However, what the spokesperson said next heavily implied that new Jaguar cars are no longer readily available in South Africa.

“Current Jaguar clients, including those whose vehicles are under warranty and service plan, will continue to be fully supported by Jaguar Land Rover South Africa through our nationwide retail agency network,” they said.

“Jaguar Land Rover will also continue to support existing clients with all service, repair, and replacement parts.”

In either case, die-hard fans of current Jaguar vehicles should act quick if they still want one as, in the best-case scenario, they have roughly one year left until the end of Jaguar as we know it.

According to the Jaguar configurator, the following models are still available in South Africa as of the time of writing:
