This is it – This is the new Jaguar

Following a controversial rebrand that even had non-car enthusiasts up in arms, Jaguar has unveiled the first vehicle under its new identity.

The Type 00 Concept showcases the iconic British marque’s new persona and provides the baseline from which all future Jaguars will be developed.

The production version of the electric vehicle (EV) is only set to be revealed in late 2025 and will have two more doors and seats than the concept car, and it will be built upon the all-new Jaguar Electric Architecture.

Jaguar aims for its new EV to offer a driving potential of up to 770km on the WLTP standard and add as much as 321km of range in as little as 15 minutes.

Until then, the Type 00 Concept will function as the poster child for the reimagined Jaguar.

Exuberant modernism

The Type 00 is inspired by the original ethos of the brand’s founder, Sir William Lyons, which reads: Copy Nothing.

Its name is derived from the most iconic Jaguars of all time, the “Type” being in reference to legendary cars like the Jaguar E-Type and F-Type.

The 00 – pronounced “Zero Zero” – has two meanings, the first indicating the EV’s zero tailpipe emissions and the second its status as car zero in the automaker’s new lineage.

It boasts a bold presence enabled by the purpose-built Jaguar Electric Architecture, underscored by an expansive bonnet, sweeping roofline, fastback profile, and dramatic 23‑inch alloy wheels.

The front is characterised by distinctive lightning signatures and upright, flush surfaces; while the side profile is dominated by emphatic proportions with the Jaguar “leaper” laser‑etched into a hand‑finished brass ingot behind the front wheels on each side of the car.

These ingots have a functional purpose, too, as they deploy to reveal rear‑facing cameras that remain hidden until needed, similar to the charging ports and front air intakes.

The rear continues the theatrics with a glassless tailgate and panoramic body‑harmonised glazed roof, while the distinctive horizontal Strikethrough graphics hide full‑width taillights and assist in emphasizing the EV’s width.

The Type 00 is presented to the public in two colours dubbed Miami Pink and London Blue, the former reflecting the Art Deco surroundings of its reveal at the Miami Art Week and the latter its British heritage.

“We have forged a fearlessly creative new character for Jaguar that is true to the DNA of the brand but future facing, relevant, and one that really stands out,” said Rawdon Glover, Jaguar Managing Director.

Large butterfly doors open to reveal a highly modernist cabin that is as stoic as the exterior.

The passenger cell features three hand‑finished brass lines that run the length of the interior, with a central 3.2m‑long brass spine that splits a pair of floating instrument panels right down the middle.

Travertine stone functions as a platform supporting the floating seats and central spine, while a tactile wool blend, inspired by handwoven yarns, envelops the two seats, sound bar, and flooring.

Occupants can furthermore tailor the cabin to suit their mood with a so-called “Prism case.”

“The objective of this feature is for occupants to engage with the vehicle and extend the concept of customisation and personalisation,” said Jaguar.

It stows behind a powered door on the bodyside and contains three totems of natural materials – Alabaster, Brass, and Travertine.

Placing one of the totems inside the centre console tailors the mood of the interior, and adjusts everything from the ambient lighting, scent, and soundscape to the screen graphics to reflect the properties of the chosen material.

Jaguar’s new design philosophy is based on three pillars, which will both dictate the aesthetics of its new cars as well as “the way it builds relationships with clients.”

These pillars are:

  • Exuberant – Vibrant, uninhibited, and fearless. In the vehicles it creates and moments it curates
  • Modernist – Future‑facing, curious, and inspired by the world. Respectful of the past, not dictated by it
  • Compelling – Holistic, sensory, and extraordinary. Generating meaningful connections with clients

From 2025 onwards, customers and fans will be able to interact with the brand in a number of exclusive stores around the world which will “present an immersive step into the world of Jaguar, embracing their setting and local culture, and be complemented by a wider global network of luxury retailers,” the EV-maker said.

The first of these will be located in the heart of the luxury fashion district of Paris, France, in the 8th Arrondissement.
