3 new Chinese cars launched in South Africa

South Africa welcomed three new Chinese cars from two different brands this week.

GWM finally launched its two flagship vehicles, the Tank 500 SUV and the P500 bakkiewith one specification of the former and three of the latter on offer.

GAC Motors then made its official debut with the new GS3 Emzoom crossover, with more to follow in the near future.


Big petrol price drop on the cards for South Africa in September

The latest data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) indicates that fuel prices could see a big drop in September.

This is thanks to a lower international trading price for oil in August, and a relatively stable rand/US dollar exchange rate.

It is also projected that petrol rates will continue to see a downward trend for the rest of the year.


VW unveils next-gen Transporter and Caravelle – When they’re coming to South Africa

VW has unveiled the new Transporter and Caravelle, and at least one of them is coming to South Africa.

The company confirmed to TopAuto that the Transporter will arrive in the second half of 2025.

However, the Caravelle is still currently under investigation.


New BMW M5 – South African pricing revealed

BMW has listed the official pricing for the new M5 ahead of its South African debut later this year.

The high-performance sedan will start at R2,690,000, with a healthy portfolio of optional extras available to boost this price.

This time around, the M5 features a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine and a sizeable electric motor.


Two major South African airlines launching new international flights

Two South African airlines are launching new international flights in the near future.

Airlink is opening a new service from Cape Town to Botswana in April 2025.

South African Airways, meanwhile, is increasing the number of flights to the popular holiday destination of Mauritius.
