What is Jetour
Jetour is a Chinese vehicle manufacturer owned by the Chery Holding Group, focusing on family crossovers and SUVs.
While it is technically part of Chery, the brand launched as an independent entity in South Africa in September 2024 with two cars – the Dashing and X70 Plus SUVs – along with a dealer network comprising 40 locations.
According to Jetour South Africa’s Managing Director, Johnny Fang, the company aims to sell at least 800 units per month by the end of its first year of operations in South Africa.
Considering that the brand sold 683 units in June, it’s not unreasonable to say that it could reach this ambitious target two months from now when it celebrates its one-year anniversary in September 2025.
The manufacturer has already made incredible progress in our market, as it confirmed in January that it had already sold more than 1,500 units.
This means it sold an average of 500 cars per month in its first three months it was active in South Africa.
What’s next for Jetour

Jetour’s local catalogue is currently limited to two urban-focused SUVs, but the brand has ambitions to compete in South Africa’s intense 4×4 segment.
Later this year, the company plans to launch the T2, an off-road SUV that bears a resemblance to local favourites like the Land Rover Defender.
The T2 will be the first model in the “T” series that Jetour plans to roll out in our market, which will eventually include the T0, T1, and T5.
Jetour also plans to enter the double-cab bakkie scene with a model called the P5, which is still in early development and is only expected to appear in 2027.
For now, the T2 is set to be Jetour’s big new release for 2025, though it’s also possible that the Dashing and X70 will receive new variants before the year is out.
The carmaker previously stated that it would introduce a “Deluxe Pro” specification for both SUVs, which will serve as the flagship of their respective series.
While no concrete details have been disclosed, it’s possible that these units will feature the more powerful 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in other markets, rather than the 1.5-litre turbo mills we currently have.
