All the cars that went on sale in South Africa in the second quarter of 2022

Nearly every week a host of new cars is launched in the South African market and from April to June 2022, no fewer than 20 models made their way into local showrooms.
These models encompassed everything from beautiful Ferrari supercars and luxurious Maybach limousines, to frugal Honda crossovers and burly Isuzu bakkies.
One surprising entry into the bakkie segment in June was the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, the first new double cab built by this American brand since 1992.
Another standout announcement in April was the launch of Hyundai’s high-performance N brand with both the i30 N and Kona N making their way to South Africa in an effort to dethrone the hot hatch king, the VW Golf GTI.
Chery also introduced its third SUV in 9 months in the form of the Tiggo 7 Pro, marking a strong return to South Africa for the Chinese carmaker.
Porsche, too, delighted local fans when it launched the 911 Sport Classic, which holds the title of being the most powerful manual 911 ever made.
New versions of the hugely popular half-siblings, the Toyota Starlet and Suzuki Baleno, also went on sale in the second quarter of this year; and VW strengthened its positioning in the competitive SUV category by launching the Tiguan Allspace as well as the Taigo, which it claims is the first SUV Coupe in the A0 SUV segment.
