Chery has broken a new sales record in South Africa, selling just over 2,500 units in a single month.
According to the latest industry sales report published by Naamsa, Chery sold a grand total of 2,506 cars in November 2025.
This is the highest figure achieved by the Chinese carmaker to date, surpassing the previous record it set exactly one year ago in November 2024 when it sold more than 2,000 units for the first time.
That previous feat has been topped multiple times this year, as Chery has consistently sold over 2,200 units per month, but November marks a new record for the brand.
The 2,506 sales helped to secure Chery’s position as the seventh best-selling carmaker in South Africa, a mere 28 units behind its main rival GWM.
What’s more, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is the country’s best-selling SUV, moving 1,838 units last month.
That works out to 73.34% of the company’s total volume.
It is also the third most popular passenger car overall, only losing out to the VW Polo Vivo (2,862 units) and the Suzuki Swift (2,364 units).
“These outstanding results and our 2 500 record sales confirm that Chery is becoming a brand South Africans love and believe in,” said Jay Jay Botes, General Manager of Chery South Africa.
“This is only the beginning – we’re building something extraordinary together.”
Chery relaunched in South Africa in 2021 and has rapidly grown to become one of the nation’s top carmakers, selling 20,000 units in its first 18 months.
It doubled its sales between 2022 and 2023, and achieved new sales records in 2024 and 2025.
The automaker now has a network of over 80 dealerships countrywide, and has started to bring in its new-energy vehicles like the Tiggo Cross HEV and the Tiggo 7 PHEV.
A growing family of brands

Chery has multiple sub-brands in South Africa that all report separate sales figures to Naamsa.
Omoda and Jaecoo, which operate jointly as “O&J” are positioned as upmarket alternatives that sell crossovers and SUVs like the C5 and J7.
Omoda made its local debut in 2023, while Jaecoo arrived one year later in 2024.
The duo has proven to be a major hit in South Africa, placing as the 11th best-selling auto brand in November with 1,408 units.
Another marque affiliated with Chery is Jetour, which is part of the Chery Holding Group, but operates independently in our market.
Jetour sold 1,235 units last month, making it the 15th best-performing brand overall.
Chery also plans to launch two more nameplates in South Africa next year – iCaur and Lepas.
iCaur (previously spelt iCar) is an all-electric sub-brand that specialises in retro-themed off-road SUVs, while Lepas is another premium brand that produces cars similar to Chery’s Tiggo Pro product line.
Both brands are scheduled to launch in our market in early 2026.
