Car sales increased by 10% year-on-year in South Africa in October 2026, and bakkies played a large role in that success.
The Toyota Hilux continues to dominate the charts with 3,820 units, though a few other models stood out last month.
This is according to a report by Cars.co.za, based on industry sales data from Naamsa.
The Ford Ranger reclaimed second place from the Isuzu D-Max, selling 2,381 units compared to the latter’s 1,644.
Another shake-up is the GWM P-Series, which overtook the Mahindra Pik Up to claim the fourth spot with 666 sales, only two more than its rival’s 664.
The VW Amarok then came sixth with 459 purchases, which was followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 with 389 units.
The JAC T-Series is still in eighth place thanks to 285 customers, and the Peugeot Landtrek is now in the ninth spot with 175 sales.
Lastly, the Nissan Navara returned to the top 10 with 165 sales, knocking the Mahindra Bolero off the list.
In total, the top 10 bakkies sold 10,643 units, accounting for 17.19% of the 61,890 vehicles sold in South Africa in October.
