The Haval H6 GT is being updated for South Africa, adding new features to the sporty SUV.
The revised hot SUV will now start at R662,250 – reflecting a small price bump of R10,000 over the current models.
Each purchase comes with a 5-year/100,000km warranty, a 5-year/60,000km service plan, and 5-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance.
Features
The H6’s exterior is mostly unchanged, with the notable exception of the back, which now has a GWM logo instead of a Haval one.
The same treatment was given to the Haval Jolion earlier this year as part of an ongoing campaign to centralize all of the automaker’s products around its main brand.
Of course, the GT also features a number of add-ons designed to reflect its athletic underpinnings, including unique side skirts, faux-carbon fibre inserts, black wheel arch claddings, black wing mirrors, gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels, a sports rear diffuser, and dual rear spoilers.
This is in addition to standard fittings such as automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, roof rails, auto-folding side mirrors, and a hands-free tailgate.
Buyers can also choose from five different colours: Atlantis Blue, G7 Red, Hamilton White, KU Grey, and Sun Black.
Looking at its spec sheet, the SUV is equipped with keyless entry and start, a synthetic leather steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, front and rear 12V sockets and USB ports, a dashcam power outlet, eight speakers, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Since this is the GT, owners can also expect sporty inclusions like paddle shifters, Alcantara and carbon fibre cabin inserts, and artificial leather and Alcantara upholstery.
On top of all of this, the Haval boasts an extensive driver assistance and safety list comprising six airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, ABS, cornering brake control, hill assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a panoramic camera system, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, pre-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and blind-spot monitoring.
The update has also given the H6 a few extra items such as a new set of electronically adjustable heated Sports seats with lumbar support, and integrated voice commands.
Engine
The GT is holding onto its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which pumps out a total of 155kW and 325Nm.
This is paired with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 8.4l/100km.
The SUV also features seven driving modes for Standard, Eco, Sport, Snow, Sand, Off-Road, and Race, and updated Macpherson front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension.
