Most affordable new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro – What you get for R410,000

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has made its debut in South Africa, with the entry-level Distinctive model going for R409,900.

A step up from Chery’s Tiggo 4 Pro, but one below the Tiggo 8 Pro, the 7 Pro fits in comfortably as a new mid-range offering from the Chinese automaker, which only recently opened its doors in South Africa.

We take a look at what you get with Chery’s new SUV below.

Interior

The Tiggo 7 Pro boasts no less than three screens, including a 7-inch driver’s instrument display and an 8-inch touchscreen ventilation display for the dual-zone climate control.

Third but not least is a 10.25-inch infotainment screen which can show the rearview camera, or allow users to connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and play audio through the car’s six-speaker sound system.

The SUV’s seats and multifunction steering wheel, meanwhile, are wrapped in artificial leather, and the driver’s seat allows for six-way electronic adjustment.

Furthermore, the rear seats can be folded down to increase the boot’s 475-litres of storage to a maximum of 1,500 litres.

Other interior highlights consist of voice command, a wireless charging tray, cooled centre storage, and an ambient lighting suite with multiple colour options which activates on approach thanks to the smart key system.

More clever functions include cruise control, a stop-start system, and three driving modes – standard, eco, and sport.

As far as safety is concerned, the Tiggo 7 offers four airbags, a tyre-monitoring system, emergency brake assistance, hill-start assist, hill descent control, rear parking sensors, rear traffic alert, and blind-spot detection.

Styling

The new car retains the same fundamental look as its siblings, with Chery’s distinctive hexagonal “sunshine galaxy” grille and elongated “angel wing” headlight design.

Therefore, where the Tiggo 7 differentiates itself is in its size and exterior fittings.

The new SUV is 182mm longer, 10mm wider, 42mm taller, and 204kg heavier than the Tiggo 4, making for an all-round larger vehicle.

However, the Tiggo 7 is still smaller than the Tiggo 8, which is 222mm longer to account for its two extra seats in the rear.

The Tiggo 7 also has automatic matrix LED headlights with follow-me-home functionality, folding and heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, foglights, illuminated door thresholds, roof rails, a tailgate spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Additionally, the vehicle’s smart key system will activate all of the car’s lights, both interior and exterior, when approaching the car.

Engine

The Tiggo 7 Pro is equipped with the same four-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine found in the Tiggo 4, which is turbocharged to deliver 108kW and 210Nm.

This, combined with a CVT transmission with “nine pre-programmed spreads,” results in a combined fuel consumption rating of 6.8l/100km.

Pricing

The new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Distinctive has a starting price of R409,900

Buyers can also expect a 5-year/60,000km service plan, 5-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance plan, 5-year/150,000km general mechanical warranty, and a 10-year/1-million kilometre engine warranty.
