All the cars that went on sale in South Africa in the first quarter of 2022

Just over 30 new cars went on sale in South Africa between January and March 2022.

This averages to over two new cars introduced to the local market per week for this entire year.

The launches spanned a huge variety of different brands, body styles, and even propulsion methods – with hybrid, full-electric, petrol, and diesel-powered vehicles going on sale.

Notable new cars on offer include Audi’s entire e-tron range, comprising six different models. The collective introduction of these vehicles made the South African e-tron launch the biggest electric-car launch by any manufacturer in any country to date, said Audi.

BMW further made its most powerful M car available in the country, the M5 CS, and all 10 units sold out before the first one even arrived.

The same goes for the seven-seater Nissan Terra, which also sold out in a limited run.

Furthermore, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and Porsche were among the most active manufacturers in 2022 thus far, launching three new vehicles each.
